Introduction
Tokio Marine Retakaful ("TMRt") was established on 23 September 2004 by Tokio Marine Asia and started writing business since 1st November 2004. The principal activity of the company is family retakaful business (providing risk coverage similar to life reinsurance on an Islamic basis). The company's main clients are family takaful operators (entities providing risk coverage similar to life insurance on an Islamic basis). To date, TMRt is the only Retakaful company in the world specializing in Family Retakaful business. The company's Shariah advisor is Dr. Mohamed Ali Elgari of Saudi Arabia. Since September 2007, the company was assigned a strong financial rating by Standard & Poor's; currently our rating is "AA-".
