A special environmental protection website "mangrove-world" is open
We, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. (President: Shuzo Sumi), opened a special environmental protection website called "mangrove-world" on 25th October, 2007.
Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. (hereinafter TMNF) has opened a special environmental protection website, called a "mangrove-world".
This website consists of 5 parts related to our environmental protection activities to mangroves such as a superb landscape of mangrove forests with beautiful background music composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto, a musician of international fame, learning about mangroves and its circumstances, virtual planting of mangrove trees and so on.
H. Watabiki, General Manager of the Corporate Communications Dept. commented, "We have planted mangrove trees since 1999 under the "Mangrove Reforestation Project". TMNF emphasizes the Millea Group's* environmental protection activities with other subsidiaries, mainly Tokio Marine Asia (hereinafter TM Asia) and its group companies. This website forms a part of our challenge for environmental issues."
Deserving special mention about its contents is an interactive virtual planting of mangrove trees in order to enlighten visitors as to how we can save the Earth. You can choose a planting area from among 5 Asian countries and plant a seeding by drag and drop operations. Finishing planting, you have to make a declaration of your activities for environmental protection. 100 days after your planting, you will get an email message from us informing you of the growth of "your" mangrove tree and asking you if you have succeeded in doing what you have declared.
Watabiki said, "We believe visitors will have a strong feeling about various problems facing the Earth and think more about the global environment".
In addition, this website also has a Japanese version which won the Grand Prix of the 47th "Advertisement Beneficial to Consumers" Contest 2007 which is an authoritative consumer advertisement contest in Japan.
